A driving tour of the Irish countryside...
We headed out in the early morning sunshine for an explore of the environs, looking for anything that called out "Ireland". It didn't take us long to find it with our first stop in the Valley of the Kings in one of Ireland's finest medieval towns, Drogheda.
We entered this quaint village through the 13th century St. Laurence's Gate and meandered until we came to St. Peter's Church, one of the last of the Gothic churches to have been built and as such
incorporates many of the finer aspects of Gothic architecture. Its big claim to fame however is the shrunken head of Saint Oliver Plunkett, who was executed in London in 1681. Very interesting.

We then headed to the sea. Ireland's coastline is ruggedly beautiful and we spent the rest of the day driving through various harbor towns. We explored ancient cemeteries and marveled at the farmlands. It was a spectacular day of sightseeing. Tomorrow we move on to Cork with its promise of new sights to see.

Oh how beautiful. Love that lil cottage-looking place! This looks too good to be true. xoxo xandra
I love the rooftops in the first picture, looks like roofs we saw in the Netherlands.
The flower picture is so pretty. Isn't it strange being cold at the beach, being that we are from southern California? It is always a trip for me.
Looks wonderful.
