A Store Opening & A Farmers Market

Today offered two very different styles of shopping opportunities for me.

The day began as our town welcomed its first Save Mart store, marking a debut for the regional grocer in a market that draws more than 15 million visitors annually.

I was a part of the Ribbon Cutting (I'm indicated by yellow arrows). What fun.

The 38,000 sq. ft. store is designed to meet the needs of residents and visitors, offering the largest selection of in‑house cut fruit and vegetables in the market, a full‑service butcher block and seafood counter, in‑house sushi, an expanded service deli with grab‑and‑go options, a bakery with custom cake decorating and a broad selection of locally-sourced produce – including prepared items like fruit parfaits, guacamole and salsa. The store also features same‑day delivery and curbside pickup, with branded parking spots and clear way-finding for online order retrieval.
I had a great time meandering up and down the aisles. What was the big deal for me? Our grandchildren eat healthily. When splurging for a special BBQ occasion, like Independence Day, the hot dogs have to be very specific. I scored on these Nathan's Grass-Fed Beef Franks. "Made with 100% Grass-Fed Beef with 6g of protein per serving. Uncured beef franks with no preservatives, fillers, or by-products. No Corn Syrup, Artificial Flavors or Colors. No nitrites or nitrates added (except those naturally occurring in cultured celery juice). Each pack was only 99¢.

I spent the conclusion of my day at the Meyers Mountain Market, a CA Certified Farmers Market located in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesdays from 3pm - 7:30pm.

I was there to volunteer for the Friends of the Library booth but also to shop! What a great kickoff to July. Let the summer fun begin...
