Dug Dingle...Now Grooving in Gort!
Yesterday we found a comfortable place to stay in Dingle, Quayside B & B, right on the harbor.
Our evening was spent at O'Sullivan's Court House Pub for some Trad Music (traditionally Irish).  The archetypal Irish pub is noted for its friendly locals, genial staff and the craic (pronounced 'crack'), an Irish term for good times.  Boy did we have some good craic!
Wild fuchsia grow EVERYWHERE in this part of Ireland and they are still in full bloom.  Gorgeous.
After a delicious breakfast, we headed for a more thorough explore of the Dingle Peninsula.  The sights continued to enthrall.
Leaving County Kerry, we boarded a ferry to cross the River Shannon and entered Lyrical County Clare.  It is a region of two very different geographies-gentle rolling countryside and a rugged and stony land.  Both of whom we plan to explore.
Lunch was at Cruises Pub (1658) in the town of Ennis with its winding medieval street pattern.  We are in James Joyce country here.  We are learning about this Irish author by visiting the sights mentioned in his book Ulysses.  It's funny because the older pubs that are deemed true pubs get the James Joyce seal of approval.
For the next week, we are nestled here at Riverbank Farms, a 20 acre piece of land owned by a really nice guy, Barry.  This thatched roof cottage is over 300 years old and we are just so excited to be in true Irish history.  It will be an incredible week of new discoveries.
Steve has become the "horse whisperer".  It's a farm with animals and he's happy!  It will be hard to leave...
