Teatro Nuovo for movie music...

Spoleto's amazing 19th century theater, Teatro Nuovo, was the setting of a most unusual concert- a tribute to Nino Rota to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth (1911-1979).  I just recently learned of this amazing composer and I am now a fan.

The evening was described as:
A magical relationship, that between music and cinema, essential, just like the relationship among images, sounds and colors. Andrea Griminelli will pay a tribute to the incomparable art of Nino Rota on the centenary of the birth of the great musician, acknowledged "Prince" of our movies′ soundtracks.

Andrea Griminelli on flute and his incredible musicians played along with images from the films Nino is most famous for:

La Strada, Romeo e Giulietta, Il Gattopardo - I sogni del principe, The Godfather Theme, 8 1/2, Le Notti di Kabiria, Rocco e i suoi Fratelli, La Dolce Vita, Il Bidone, The Godfather II, I Vitelloni and Amarcord.
