Spello for flowers and friendship...
On Good Friday, we met a wonderful woman while exploring Spello and we were invited into her home and her idyllic life.  Bonnie's home has a most welcoming feel to it.  And her kitchen is the most quaint in all of Umbria.  She is truly the hostess with the mostest and has included us in Spello's unique tradition, L'Infiorata.  Saturday we will return to volunteer for this amazing event.
Meeting her friends, Melba from Sacramento and the wonderful Spellani, Paola and Leonardo made the evening that much richer.
We came, this night , to introduce L'Infiorata to Kegan and Monica.  Bonnie's blog explains the process so much better than I can. http://oldbroadabroad.com/blog/?p=4001
The scent of the freshly picked wildflower petals was evident throughout the streets.  They will stay here until Saturday night when teams of workers will create mosaics throughout this delightful town.  I can't wait to be a part of it all.
Around every corner, families were working on preparations.  Days of hours and hours of picking  foliage and then stripping off just the right part to create just the right colors for the mosaics has been occurring here all month.
No night in Italy is complete without a passiegata.  Spello's Roman history provides a perfect picturesque end to a perfect evening.
