Next guests...Friends we have yet to meet!

Our next house guests, arriving on the 8th, are people who we have yet to meet.  A very long, albeit fun, story as to why they are staying with us for two nights will have to be told another day.  However, David and Karen will be here in their new BMW with travel tales to tell.  Here is their enviable itinerary:
We leave Saturday and arrive in Munich Sunday afternoon, and will pick up my new car Monday morning.  Our routing from there will be Davos, Switzerland, crossing the Alps via the Stelvio Pass and down to Bormio, Italy, then to Karen's favorite place in Italy, the little town of Cernobbio on Lake Como for three nights – our fourth time in Cernobbio.  From there, we'll be in Alba in Italy's Piemonte, tasting some nice Barolo, Barbera and Barbaresco also for three nights.

Then our longest driving day – 6 ½ hours to Velletri, about an hour south of Rome - to visit with our friends Romolo and Angela de Paolis there, for two nights.  Then, we'll barge in on Denise and Steve Haerr, who are living in Spoleto in Umbria for a year, and spend two nights with them.  From there, we'll be in Panzano, Tuscany, in the heart of Chianti Classico country for three nights.  Then, we'll go just across the Val di Chiana to my personal favorite place in Italy, the lovely hilltown of Cortona in southeastern Tuscany for our fourth visit there.  After three nights in Cortona, we'll head north to Sirmione on Lake Garda – a place we really enjoyed in 2008, and try to find some nice Valpolicella or Amarone to taste.  From there, we'll head north to the Alps again, stopping to visit a client in Bolzano on the way.  We'll turn in the car in Munich on 7/17 so they can put it on a boat with a bunch of brand new BMWs and ship it to South Bay BMW in Torrance, CA, where we'll see it again in about eight weeks.  The next day, we fly back to beautiful San Diego – a pretty darned good place to come home to.  Should be fun – stay tuned for more! ~David
