Wine n' Ice at Truckee River Winery

How could we miss this? "Truckee River Winery's 8th annual Ice Carving Competition, dedicated to Chris Banovich (a five time winner and founding collaborator of the Ice Carving Competition). Come to Tahoe's local winery and watch talented local professionals transform large blocks of ice into works of art while listening to the amazing stylings of DJ Chango all while enjoying some winter fun. Proceeds will benefit the Truckee River Watershed Council. All ages welcome. $10.00 cover includes souvenir wine glass, Mardi Gras beads, as well as a donation."
Joined by Casey and Linda, it was wonderful to actually be warm and all for a good cause.
These are just some of the tools of the trade!

Truckee River Winery's motto is "The Highest and the Coldest".

This bear holding a fish was pretty cute.
While we didn't stay to the end to see who won, I'm pretty sure this sculpture of Lake Tahoe would rank pretty high up there. It was going to be amazing when completed.
Lazing about, sipping wine and feeling sunshine... it felt like the dog days of summer had arrived early.
