Left Coast Crime Day #3

Oh man, another day of complete awesomeness.

Breakfast was at 7:15 AM with the new authors. I sat at the fun Kellye Garrett's table. We dined as we learned about all these talented debuts.
We then attended our first panel, Days of Wine and Roses: Culinary Mysteries moderated by Leslie Karst. We were delighted by Catherine Bruns, Daryl Wood Gerber, Sharon Moore and Nadine Nettmann.
Karen and I were drawn to author/sommelier Nadine Nettmann. So fun.
Next we found ourselves in the company of Lefty Award Nominees Past & Present: Best Historical Mystery. Laurie R. King moderated the interaction between powerful and interesting group of women: Kelli Stanley, Jennifer Kincheloe, Catriona McPherson and Priscilla Royal.
Shopping filled our extra time in the 'book shop'.

Panels filled our days and made us laugh. It continued with Lefty Award Nominees: Best Mystery with Todd Borg as moderator. Matt Coyle, William Kent Krueger, Terry Shames, and James W. Ziskin shared their writing motivations and intriguing life stories.

Lunch was an author-connection called Fun of Noodles Lunch with L.C. Hayden. "Eleven readers — hey, I like even numbers! — are invited to meet for lunch with me, L.C. Hayden — my treat. The fun begins at noon on Friday at the Noodle Bar." Not only was it fun but it was delicious, too.

We then relaxed as David Hagerty read to us during something called a One Shot. These brief author moments happen continuously during the day. David's book They Tell Me You Are Brutal takes place in Chicago and is rather intriguing. Oh and he has a great voice.
More eating with authors happened with our afternoon of Cozies, Private Eyes, and Cake with Catherine Bruns and Elena Hartwell"Ten people are invited to join cozy author Catherine Bruns and PI author Elena Hartwell for chatting about murder over cake and drinks. Enjoy a sweet treat while we discuss the ins and outs of writing a culinary cozy and a PI series. We look forward to answering any questions you bring to the table!" We could have stayed all day talking books and eating cake. Wow.

We then listened to the entertaining and inspiring interview of William Kent Krueger conducted by G.M. Malliet.

Dinner was snacks and wine back in our room with Dänna Wilberg, my friend Karen, and her friend Karen. It was the perfect reprieve from a nonstop busy day.

And what better way to end it all than in the company of Mark Twain and Todd Borg, two of my favorite Lake Tahoe people. Oh man, the days just keep getting better and better. What will tomorrow hold? The suspense is killing me (pun intended).

Thanks for these great posts. I feel like I'm actually at the convention hanging out with you and all of my author pals.
