50th Annual Tahoe-Douglas Rotary St. Patrick’s Celebration & Fundraiser...

Through a series of weather-related plan changes and the incredible generosity of our friends, Len & Cyndy, Steve and I attended our fifth St. Pat's shindig here in Lake Tahoe. AND it keeps getting better.

Tonight's motto: Feed Your Face! Down Your Drinks! Get Lucky!!!
The company keeps getting more fun, too. The cast of characters are from left to right in the back row, Stephen, Steve, me, Karen, Cyndy, Chris, Adele, Bruce and Jenny. The front row is Jan and Bob. Merrymakers one and all.
A photo op with Séan Cummings, the Tahoe bagpiper, is a must. I love that guy.

Also required every year is a photo with this man- Todd Poth a Rotarian with spirit!
Then there's this guy who road in on a dinosaur. What a riot!

The All-You-Can-Eat Irish Buffet featured traditional corned beef and cabbage with yellow and stone ground mustards and horseradish along with potato pancakes, apple sauce, baby carrots, fruit salad, mixed greens, and assorted freshly baked breads and rolls. There was an Irish-theme pastry bar and freshly ground coffee for dessert. Wow!

We knew it was going to be a wild night when Prince made an appearance. While we knew it wasn't the actual High Priest of Pop, we delighted in his showmanship and dance songs anyway.

Séan then joined the exceptionally talented band, Left of Centre, and rocked out to an AC/DC tune. What a riot.
This event is a fundraiser and a big part of the night was the Virtual Silent Auction where we all bid on some very unique experiences, travel, and desirable local items, and at the same time, help our community and the world!
Steve and I won four passes for a 2-hour lunch cruise to Emerald Bay on this awesome boat- the Bleu Wave. Each pass includes a deli lunch buffet and two free drinks. Let the summer planning begin!
The most craziest part of the evening came when Jason Aldean arrived on stage.
Everyone was so excited and rather confused. Why would a performer of this caliber be here? Of his singles, 19 have reached number one. He has been top male vocalist many times. We started thinking, hmm, maybe he's a Rotarian. I had Steve look up his tattoos and to see what his schedule was, to prove the authenticity of this amazingly talented guy. It all was legit (seemingly).
From the beginning Adele knew. But the thrill of thinking we were with the real Jason Aldean was enough to make us swoon. Everyone was taking photos and enjoying it all immensely.

After Jason left the stage, and when Footloose was performed, I saw moves on the dance floor that were awesome.
We should have researched Jason's height. This guy was on his toes to get to be my height. The real Jason is 6'1". So dang fun... all of it.
It is pretty fantastic when a community comes together in such a festive way to not only spend time together, having a blast but also to raise money to better our community. We have such an attitude of gratitude. Oh, and here is a little video of "Mr. Aldean" so you can experience a bit of the surrealism of it all.
