Our yesterday ended today...

At 3 PM, yesterday, we headed back to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where we first ushered, for an Intermezzo which "provided the perfect late afternoon interlude between other festival events.  An annual festival favorite, this vocal recital program featured Tyler Duncan and Andriana Chuchman, cast members of Flora, an Opera (which we will usher for later).'"  Their voices were absolutely beautiful and the acoustics of the old church really showcased that talent.

Our other 'gig' of the day began at 11 PM.  Yes, for those who know us well, we have become night people.  Every evening has found us in historic Charleston.  Wild right?

We figured we were assigned to this concert because we said we were available for all shifts and this one probably did not appeal to the entire usher pool...What a surprise to see such a diverse group of ushers but audience members, too.  According to the Spoleto program:  Die Roten Punkte (the utterly dysfunctional pairing of German siblings Otto and Astrid Rot) became an instant household name in Europe after topping the charts in Germany and Poland.  Described as "inspired, brilliantly executed lunacy…a lipstick-smeared, tantrum-loving, sonic collision between Plastic Bertrand, Kraftwerk and early Ramones," Die Roten Punkte (translates to The Red Dots) are unforgettably unique. Their songs are ridiculously infectious and their live show is one of the most irreverent and hilarious gigs you are ever likely to see.

I read the siblings' biography and almost cried.  Their parents were killed on Astrid's 12th birthday and they struggled through life, alone.  But then I researched further and discovered the truth...

Steve and I arrived early and Astrid and Otto were preparing for their show.  No matter who they really are they gave us the most entertaining evening, thus far.  The audience loves them.  If you ever have the chance to see Die Roten Punkte... go!  What a wild time that was.

We crawled into bed at 1:30 AM and we leave again before 10AM.  It's surreal here in Charleston.
