Marionettes in the morning...

Yesterday was a rather exciting day for us.  It began with the second Colla Marionette presentation, Cinderella (a delight to watch because it had comedy, a familiar plot line the the joyous laughter from the children in the audience).  Before the show, Steve and I went back stage, and using his mad Italian skills, asked for a photo.  It was a peek into their world.  While watching the spectacular performance one doesn't realize the dozen plus people it takes to tell the tale or the arduous journey the roughly 300 esteemed wooden counterparts to the puppeteers, some well over 100 years old, made to arrive in Charleston. The marionettes will soon return to Italy in a 40-foot container along with elaborate sets, hand-painted scenery, and trunks of ornate costumes having left the festival goers completely in awe of their talent.  Bravo!
