Frogs and freeways...

Some of our most vocal neighbors, during our stay at the campground in Charleston, have been large amounts of frogs. The habitat of American green tree frogs is usually near lakes, farm ponds, etc., which happened to be what made our campsite so idyllic. They inhabit the southeastern United States and it seems, trailers from California.  As we packed up and slid the slideout in, three of these frogs jumped inside our rig.  Steve, Kegan and I actively hunted them.  After catching the interior critters, Kegan took a brush to the outside and swooshed off almost a dozen members of a frog family.  Wild times!

Then, with a little sadness, we left and drove 330 miles through some scenic south.  We are now in northern North Carolina for the night with a souvenir of Charleston...one frog has joined us for our adventure.  Tomorrow... Virginia!

That's funny with the frogs. Yesterday we kept hearing a hawk crying it's call to the other hawks in the area. It sounded so close, so I opened the back sliding door, but the sound was coming from the the direction of the garage. I looked out there, opening cupboards, when a big noise came from behind. I thought oh no we have a big rat out there. So I looked behind the cupboard and there was the hawk, stuck behind the cupboard in the window. So we had to move the cupboard forward, opened the garage doors, and it finally could fly out....none the less for wear or spending the night stuck in the garage. It was big and pretty. Yellow head.
Are frogs better than Palmetto Bugs ? (Otherwise known to us as BIG cockroaches.)HA We got one of those once in Fla.

It took us about 21 long days to finally not hear our "Freddy, the freeloading frog" in our bay area. We tried coaxing him out, leaving bay doors open, etc. to no avail. We think he may have died in there as we do not hear him anymore and it has been 2 days now. We hope Freddy hopped out, but he may got bounced around on one of Michigan's roads! Good luck with yours... Ours was in there so long, we had to name it!

Nice to see the journey is getting off to a great start! Say hello to Mr. Froggy, looks like he did not want you leave so he is hitching a ride. You know the deal right? You have to bring him back! :)
