French Valley Wildlife Area...

Years ago, while on a drive, Steve discovered this amazing wildlife area. Knowing we needed a dose of Vitamin N (nature) he knew exactly where to go and it's only a couple of miles from our home.

French Valley Wildlife Area is 702 acres of coastal sage scrub, southern willow scrub, grasslands, eucalyptus woodlands, and prior dry-land farming agricultural lands. It has rolling hills with elevations from 1,300'-1,600'. It was designated as a wildlife area by the Fish and Game Commission in 2007.
Oh man, what a discovery. We were in wildflower heaven!

The area's activities include wildlife viewing, birdwatching, hiking, and hunting (dove, quail, and rabbits). Thankfully it is closed to hunting from February 1- August 31st. Maybe that is why the path was so overgrown.

Physical distancing was optimal as we didn't see another soul in the few hours we were there. It was idyllic.

This is pretty much how I looked most of the day. As you can see, the hues of the wildflowers weren't obvious. It was a scavenger hunt of sorts. Only the seeker willing to look closely saw all the treasures.

This was the view from our picnic!

Sooooooo, beautiful! It was the perfect spot for rejuvenation and renewal! My goodness so much colour and it is so lush. We got a tiny bit of snow here again today LOL!

Thank you for sharing so I could virtually live vicariously in nature with you. Hugs xo

Open space? Flowers? Wildlife?
Ugh. I am so jealous! We may need to check it out ourselves. I hope we have the same luck as you and get some solitude.
