Instacart: Groceries Delivered

Wanting to heed the CDC's advice for sheltering-in-place and trying to help keep people employed, we ordered our first home grocery delivery with Instacart.

For those who don't know about this company, it's pretty amazing. We even hooked Steve's mom up with it a few years ago and she loves it. Founded in 2012, Instacart is an American technology company (valued at nearly $8 billion) that operates as a same-day grocery delivery and pick-up service in the U.S. and Canada. Customers shop for groceries through the Instacart mobile app or Instacart.com from the company's more than 350 national, regional and local retailer partners. The order is shopped and delivered by an Instacart personal shopper.

Today, Instacart is accessible to more than 85% of U.S. households, and in all 50 states, and 70% of Canadian households. Instacart partners include Albertsons, ALDI, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Loblaw, Publix, Safeway, Sam's Club, Sprouts and Wegmans, among others. The company serves more than 25,000 different grocery stores across more than 5,500 cities in North America. We are now fans!
After submitting our order yesterday, and knowing there were delays, Medhat began our shopping this morning. During the buying experience, he was relaying what was and wasn't on the shelves. It was a very unique view of the market without having to be there ourselves.

While not everything was available on our wish list, Medhat did a wonderful job helping us to stay sheltered in place. I really recommend this service. Steve said he's hooked and will probably continue to do this even when the COVID-19 chaos has ended. Fun stuff.
