The Great American Trailer Park Musical

When we saw this was being performed, as a matinee, on our last day ever in Anchorage, we knew we had to attend. How could anyone resist this description?

"Join Florida's most hilarious trailer park for love and craziness! What to do with an unhappy toll-collector, his agoraphobic wife, a stripper on the run, and the crazy ex-boyfriend headed their way...If you like your flamingos plastic and humor (a little) raunchy, The Great American Trailer Park Musical is right up your double-wide!"
When it opened in 2005, the NY Post's review read, "Adultery, strippers, murderous ex-boyfriends, Costco and the Ice Capades. Undeniable fun." They were so dang spot on. We absolutely loved this show.
The cast was exceptional and truly believable playing each unique character. Wow. And the writing was so our generation. I mean who wouldn't laugh at a rhyme of Meredith Baxter Birney and a hospital gurney? Hysterical... truly.
We arrived early to get front and center seats. What a crack up. And the set- two trailers and a stripper pole... what more would you need? Oh yeah, several pink flamingos. Awesome!
And remember me mentioning how kind Alaskans are? When I went online, the play was sold out. I called and left a message at the box office with several pleases, and a pronounced admiration for all things trailer park. Neato Janet called back and reserved us two seats, tickets which had just been returned. Sweet timing and a sweet lady.
The Great American Trailer Park Musical, performed by the troupe at Cyrano's, will be one of those events which will linger in our memory and make us laugh at odd times. Consider yourself warned. Lastly, I must share the final message we were left with... words to live by, "I gotta make like a nail ... and press on." Bravi to all.
