Our Day in Valdez...

So all night it poured... relentlessly.

A little about Valdez... This town gets 71 inches of rain per year (I think most of it was last night). The US average is 39. Snowfall is 296 inches. The average US city gets 26 inches of snow per year. The number of days with any measurable precipitation is 131. Yes, and we made a 305 mile detour to get here. I'm not complaining though. I love the rain and it gave us time to just hunker down for a bit this morning.
After the rain stopped, we headed to the marina. I love a marina (I've mentioned this before).

The rain also gave us some very dramatic and spectacular skies. Wow.

Lunch was halibut fish & chips. We had to admit that Talkeetna's, our first foray into this fried dish, has been the best- so far.

We ended our night being completely entertained by Hannah Bethel, a singer best described as folksy-country meets groovy-pop.

We have been incredibly fortunate to stumble upon these magical music moments. Hannah was awesome. Singing to a crowd of enthusiastic listeners, in what could only be called an spectacular man cave, she had every toe tapping and definitely made us fans. Oh man, Alaska keeps surprising us. What a night!
The best thing about a rainy day is a rainbow! What a fabulous end to a pretty great day marking the conclusion of our second full month on the road. Wow!

Well, my dear, I'm glad you could embrace the rain. I guess we really can't control the weather. I agree that it gave you some spectacular skies. It tickles me that you've seen at least two rainbows in Alaska, when you saw none in Hawaii. And I feel like you answered an impending question from me about the fish and chips :)

We needed some of this rain...very little/next to none all summer. One thing I love about the rain is looking for the rainbow...yours is beautiful!
