Santa, Trains, & Waterfalls: Oh My

Our visit  to Carson City was just one of those days! We came for a train ride and left having visited a waterfall. So cool.

We explored the Nevada State Railroad Museum the last time our younger son's family was in Tahoe but we didn't have the opportunity to ride a train. This event was too good to pass up.
"Join us on the Santa Train! Take a ride on the Santa Train featuring historic equipment from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Visit with Santa Claus and receive a candy cane aboard the train. $5.00 per person, children 2 and under sitting on a lap are FREE."
The +/- 15 minute ride was enough railroad excitement for the kiddos. It did not disappoint. When else can one see Santa while journeying in a 154 year old train car? Wow.

Knowing what more Carson City had to offer, we headed to one of our favorite spots. It has been a few years since we hiked to the Kings Canyon Waterfall  knowing our children love being in nature.
It still surprised me that this amazing phenomenon is found just in the outskirts of Nevada's State Capital!

This was our last day with this little family until we leave Tahoe for the Bay Area to celebrate Christmas. What an exceptional conclusion to this four day visit. I'm a happy Mom/Grandma!
