Friends, Books & Deals
These three things: Friends, Books and Deals are ample reason for me to get off the hill. It is especially true when one friend has just launched a new book and the other is a girlfriend from Temecula who has been a part of my life for two decades.
"Author Cindy Sample has tied a bow on a light-hearted Christmas present for readers—DYING FOR A DECORATION, the 9th book in her Laurel McKay Humorous Mystery series. This time the beloved heroine is out to solve multiple puzzling crimes from the Christmas-cheer-stealing culprit who rustles a herd of reindeer to the villain who’s graduated from roasting chestnuts to torching homes. Laurel comes through in tinsel-sparkle style accompanied by a charming cast of zany family members and friends. Gift yourself laughter this holiday and read DYING FOR A DECORATION!" -Linda Lovely, author of A Killer App, An HOA MysteryKeri and I came to give others Cindy's "gift of laughter" but we both plan to read it before sharing it. I'm so excited. Cindy has made an appearance on my blog several times (link here). It is always a delight to with this talented, and fun, author.
As for Face in A Book, the independent bookstore that hosted the event, I'm hooked. What a darling space with neat staff.
According to the owner, Tina Ferguson, "We exist for one reason: the love of good books!"
I am Keri's thrifting buddy and she was tasked to find us a new, awesome store in which to peruse for hours. She exceeded all expectations with Citrus Heights' Eco Thrift, a place to "discover unique pre-loved fashion, home decor, tech, and more. Join our eco-conscious community and shop guilt-free. Reduce, Reuse, Thrift!"
I actually came with a shopping list and got everything on my list and more!
Lunch was at the perfectly chosen Selland’s Market Café, which offers "high-quality, handcrafted foods – entrées, sides, sandwiches, salads, soups, and pizzas – as well as a full-service bakery and a wine shop, in the heart of El Dorado Hills.
