Good Friday afternoon in Bevagna...

We spent our afternoon wandering aimlessly through the streets of Bevagna, a first for all of us.   Originally an Etruscan city (80 BC), it has evolved to the very medieval looking town you see in the photographs.  We felt we had truly entered another era.  It is clean and welcoming and its churches are spectacular.  A delightful way to begin the day.

When our children are here, the town will become a giant Renaissance Faire with Il Mercato delle Gaite...a
big summer festival with medieval banquettes, processions, challenges between the four gaite (quarters) and taverns.  It is hugely competitive and very authentic.
