Spanish Brass Rocks!

After a nap, followed by dinner at home, we concluded our Saturday in Old Town Temecula (along with hundreds of others with the same idea).

The still displayed Christmas decor made us feel festive... just perfect for the evening ahead of us.
I wanted Sharon and Erin to experience a performance at our delightful  Old Town Temecula Community Theater. On stage was the very entertaining Spanish Brass. "Founded in 1989 by five Spanish musicians as an innovative project, it quickly gained world renown for its performances, educational activities, and creative collaborations. The brass quintet has given hundreds of concerts across the globe in such prestigious events and venues as the Great American Brass Band Festival, New York Brass Conference, and Juilliard School of Music, to name a few."

What a venue!

I must agree with the review by trumpeter Maurice André, “They play with amazing cohesion and set the highest standard for brass chamber music.”
Carlos Benetó, one of the two trumpeters, was the emcee and he was so entertaining. He really made the show, sharing the history of not only the music they were playing but of the quintet itself. What a night! We were all so pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this group. Wow.
If you'd like to experience a little of the maravillosa magia musical check out this video overview of Spanish Brass' talents.

That band was such a fun surprise. Exceeded any and all expectations. And the playhouse - wow, what a gem!
