Castles and enclaves...
Wandering about the hillsides of Umbria, one never knows what one will find. We stumbled upon the quaint Borgo San Benedetto with the Castello di Pissignano rising beyond it.
In 1976, Italian scientist, Antonio Meneghetti, decided to restore the future to this ruined village, and he gave it a new name: "Lizori".
While the ancient streets were deserted, the presence of artworks and welcoming doorways announced to us how vibrant this artistic community can be.
The Castle hosts events, exhibitions, theater performances, concerts, conferences, and workshops for artists, musicians, and writers. Anna Wood, an American woman we know, is the organizer and we have offered to help her in this ancient 12th century stronghold. We eagerly await "the season".
