Lovin' Lititz
For our last day in PA we stayed in Lititz and just enjoyed it all. Lititz, just nine miles north of Lancaster, PA, a little town sits tucked quietly into the bosom of Mother's Earth's fertile fields and underground limestone rivers. The sound of horses hooves clatter along the tiny streets, the town's locals busily sweep their sidewalks. Hands raise in greetings, smiles cross faces as neighbors pass each other on the streets. Mothers and their children feed the fat ducks as they float down the park's canal. This scenario, played over and over since the early 1700s, still happens every day in Lititz. Lititz, you see, is the hometown everyone wishes was theirs!
We fed ducks and picnicked in the Springs park. We learned about Sturgis Pretzels... America's first commercial pretzel factory since 1861. We devoured the famous Wilbur Buds©, which were first introduced here in 1894 and learned about this interesting chocolate history.
We meandered around Linden Hall which was founded in 1746 and acclaimed as the oldest girls' boarding school in the nation. "It is an extraordinary meeting of the timeless and the innovative, of security and growth, of nurture and challenge within a safe community where young women learn to ask questions, take risks, and develop positive self-awareness."
We thrift store shopped, strolled centuries old cemeteries and wandered aimlessly, delighting in it all. We were tourists extraordinaire... Tomorrow, we head to Virginia. PA and specifically the hospitality of Paul and Judy will be missed but we'll all reconnect in Italia!

Wow Denise,
It looks oddly familiar! Ha ha - 2 doors down from the General Sutter Inn was my moms giftstore, and we lived on 2nd avenue near the high school....such a long time ago, but Wilbur buds are still my favorite. Enjoy, travel safe!
