Charleston... we have arrived!
We arrived at Oak Plantation Campground not really sure of what we would find... we were very pleasantly surprised. We could not have picked a better location for a month of being in Charleston. The first photo is our site! After 'moving in' we went to into the historic center of town and embarked on a walking explore.
We began at The Battery, a park at the end of Charleston peninsula that use to serve as defensive batteries to protect the city if Fort Sumter fell. Today it's a peaceful park with monuments reminding of its past use.
We had refreshments at a really cool pub and then attended the Piccolo Spoleto Festival volunteer meeting where we received our assignments for the other event we are working while living in Charleston. We are going to be blissfully busy!
