How often does someone know the exact day a friendship began?

Ours started precisely a decade ago (yesterday) in an ancient piazza in Spoleto, Italy. I've shared our meet-cute here before but what started as just a pen pal relationship in Southern California evolved, over the course of two years, into a real friendship in Italy when David and Karen came to stay with us in our little Umbrian apartment.

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we went to the home of our amici. While dining on prosciutto, cheeses, garden fresh tomatoes, and artisan bread, we reminisced while watching a slideshow of those beginning days. What wonderful memories!
