Uniquely acquainted friends...
Uniquely acquainted friends is an accurate way to describe this group of people. Our hospitable hosts, David and Karen, have stayed numerous times at Corinne and Marlow's B & B Winemaker's Porch in Paso Robles.
Corinne is our good friend, Carol's, sister. We met Corinne and Marlow, for the first time, in China of all places (again in Yosemite and finally at their B & B). In 2008, David and Karen went to Italy and sent Corinne their very enviable itinerary. Corinne knew that Carol loves to travel and would appreciate reading about David and Karen's exciting travels. Carol then forwarded it on to me because she knew I would delight in the adventurousness of it all.
At that time, out of curiosity, I looked at David's initial e-mail and noted that he had sent it to an Italian teacher at the same college where Steve and I were studying Italian as well. I wrote to him directly, explaining our shared interests. Karen and I became penpals and for three years we tried to get together- locally. It wasn't until they arrived in Italy, last June, that we finally met them, in our own village while they stayed with us for two nights.
Knowing that Corinne and Marlow were going to be in SoCal, David and Karen invited us to a reunion, along with Karen's sister Tricia and husband, Mike. It was an evening of remarking on coincidences, great conversations, and sumptuous food with the evening concluding with a wonderful slideshow of Italy...perfetto!
