An audiobook by Jimmy Carter...

Believe it or not, Steve and I have never listened to an audiobook, but after seeing a recent interview of President Carter, we wanted to know a bit more about this seemingly interesting man (we were barely out of high school when he left office and knew very little about him).

Sharing Good Times seemed a great fit for where we are heading in our lives and a great way to pass the nine hours it would take to get to Tahoe:

In this wonderfully evocative volume, Jimmy Carter writes about the things that matter most, the simple relaxed days and nights that he has enjoyed with family and friends through the years and across the generations.

Here are lively, witty accounts of exploring the outdoors with his father and with black playmates; making furniture; painting; pursuing new adventures and going places with children, grandchildren, and friends; and sharing life with his wife, Rosalynn.

Sharing Good Times is an inspirational guide for anyone desiring to stretch mind and heart and to combine work and pleasure.

I was mesmerized by his storytelling and his life is truly worth hearing about.  I exclaimed, "Wow" a great deal of the time and both Steve and I openly laughed at one of his jokes, "If someones tells you they're doing the same thing at 60 that they were doing at 20... they weren't doing much at 20!"

President Carter's perspective was refreshing, his current projects are inspiring and his zest for life is enviable.  We had our mind stretched and it felt great!

What are 'black playmates'? Or do I have to read the book to find out? :)
From what I know about Jimmy Carter he seems like a down to earth man. I am sure I would like his book.
I have never listened to an audiobook either, but am always looking for used ones in Spanish (haven't come across one!).

You should totally get some Harry Potter for the drive. : ) They're our roadtrip audiobooks of choice.
