A Glorious Oceanside Day...

Meeting Julie for the day in this beach resort town gave me the opportunity to better explore Mission Pacific, the sister property to The Seabird (I shared with you last week).

"Discover a sanctuary at Oceanside Beach, a distinct coastal playground where the best of San Diego’s North Shore is right outside your door."
"Stunning architecture. Southern California living. Inspired dining. Rooftop bar with sweeping views of the Pacific. Swimming. Surfing. Biking. And more. Just steps from the beach."
When we did the First Friday Art Walk, the curator of Oceanside Museum of Art was very excited about this piece. I hope one day there will be plaques informing us about the artists who created the various works.

Sticking with the nautical/beach theme, this installation was crafted with boat braid dock line. Clever indeed!

"Relaxed and Undeniably Southern California: At Mission Pacific, the world slows down as your mind and body awaken. It’s California living at its best. Enjoy delicious, healthy, locally sourced food. Explore the village, meet local artisans, or kick back and enjoy the thrill of doing absolutely nothing at all."
Happily, the builders saved, and then restored, the historic Graves House (1887). The plans are to transform this darling cottage into a decadent dessert spot called Charlie's, after the Kelly McGillis character in the movie Top Gun who lived here.

With a new love of The Seabird, which I wanted to share with Julie, we returned for a tour and the art.

Lunch was back at The Shelter Club for their delicious nachos.

The Seabird Resort pool area is designed to resemble an expansive cruise ship deck even down to the view. It feels as if you are right on the water and you don't see the sandy beach unless you walk right up to the glass railing. Befitting of the more family-oriented style, the entrance to the pool area opens into a living room area where people can get lunch and either sit at the metal bar or use the pickup windows.  We dined poolside, in full sun, and it nourished us in more ways than one.

Fabulous weather, welcoming new hotels, scrumptious Parlor Doughnuts (always), a successful estate sale, interesting thrift stores and the company of an old friend... could a day be much better?
