Buddies, Birds & A Bear
We joined Bob and Jenny on another birding quest.
With the sun shining and the temperature about 30°, the day was exhilarating.Again we were greeted by a Coyote. If any animal can be said to typify the wild character of the west, it certainly would be this beauty. The Coyote is a very curious animal and often lives close to humans.
Bob and Jenny took us to the Upper Truckee Marsh- one of their favorite birding spots.
Being lakeside, for whatever reason, is a happy occasion.
The views are breathtaking.
We watched our second Coyote as he hunted. What a mesmerizing show he performed.
This Snow Goose was a unique find for Bob and Jenny. Our excursion was a success.
After our foray into nature was over, we gathered on our friends' back deck. Across the lagoon, Jenny spotted this guy at a neighbor's. He knocked over the barbecue and was delighting in whatever he found there.
Watching him was quite entertaining. I have called Bob and Jenny's place a living National Geographic. Today was a perfect example of what I meant. The largest of the the Sierra carnivores, the Black Bear is found in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin. There are an estimated 25,000 to 35,000 Black Bears in California. Each season we see at least one. They are amazing to gaze upon.
“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers,
the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters,
and teach of us more than we can ever learn from books.”
