Three Generations of Veterans...

My family, the Saffells, are a military family, beginning with my dad's enlistment in the Navy in 1942 (he retired in 1967).

My dad was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I am so proud of his legacy.
My big brother, Chuck, followed in his footsteps and joined the Navy right after college. We were honored to be a part of his long career (1968- 1997).
Chuck's son, Brett (r), chose a career in the Army and served from 1998 to 2006 being an artillery officer (he liked tanks more than boats as a child- no surprise for us he chose the Army).

In November of 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations..."

We live in the land of the free because of the brave. Today and every day we must thank our Veterans and our active duty military. Your sacrifice is sincerely appreciated.
