Steampunk Top Hats...

Tonight is the big Gala for WordWave, The Tall Timber Ball at the Grand Hall: Steampunk in the Woods.

I put a call out to all my thrift store/estate sale friends and Cindy came through with these two amazing top hats (a required piece of our outfits for tonight). The one on the left is a Creston & Petit Collapsible top hat from the 1860s, made in Paris. The one on the right was made in England by appointment by Scott & Co, hatters to H.M. the King, The Royal Family, 1 Old Bond Street Piccadilly, W. Made for Saks-Fifth Avenue New York, from the early 1900s.

Steve refurbished them with black spray paint while Karen and I attached the necessary regalia.
Just for those who do not know, Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan "What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner."
We'll be home way too late to blog but I wanted to you to get a taste of our exciting and truly unique evening.
