Independence Day- Tahoe Style

The kids arrived late last night to be here for the festive weekend which began at the beach at Lakeview Commons.  It was a perfect day to celebrate our Nation's 237th birthday!

We spent hours at the beach, picnicking and people watching!  This was the first time in decades Steve actually went into the Lake.
We came back home for showers, a barbecue and horseshoes!
NBC's Today show recognizes Tahoe South's Lights on the Lake Fireworks display as one of the country's top Fourth of July weekend Celebrations. The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the top five displays in the nation.  We rated it awesome!
The United States is the only country with a known birthday.

Happy 4th!
What a fun day!
The firework pictures are great.
I AM surprised however that Tahoe is okay with doing fireworks over the lake given the environmental issues they are associated with.
There are many complaints about the Sea World fireworks over the Bay, but those are daily which obviously is going to have a more devastating impact.
Maybe some day they will figure out a way to capture the chemicals as they fall, because I love fireworks! :)
