The PCT is a 2,650 mile long hike that has been made even more famous with the publishing of the book Wild. This 5.8 mile stretch, at Echo Lakes, called to us so off we went.

Aptly described as "This stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail traverses from the granite slabs
above larger Lower Echo Lake to the forested ramps that shade the Upper
Echo Lake. The hiking is wonderfully easy (not so for me) and visually exciting,
especially at the outset, when the route follows a seam in the granite
at the base of Flagpole Peak, which forms the lakes’ eastern border. The
surface of the lower lake shimmers in the sun that bathes the basin;
the upper lake is partially hidden by the trees that shade the small
cabins along its shores." |

We picnicked at this scenic pier... a truly perfect spot. |
