"RENT"- The Musical...

One of the reasons David and Karen came to Tahoe this week, was to see LTCC's production of "RENT".  This is one of their favorite musicals and our first time seeing it.  Set in New York City’s East Village, "RENT" follows the lives of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians as they struggle to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of the AIDS epidemic. "RENT" is a pop culture phenomenon about love, friendship, finding your voice, and living for today.

According to the experts in our group, the production was well done.  For me, the story was sad and yet hopeful at the same time.  The song, Seasons of Love*, had me crying.  This is one of those plays that I hope to see again, to absorb its message fully.  It was a perfect conclusion to David and Karen's Tahoe travels.

*How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, a year in the life?
