Lake Tahoe's New Pro Hockey Team
It's not often your little town gets its own professional hockey team. Tonight we learned just who we are going to be rooting for!
"Lake Tahoe is now home to an ECHL expansion team who will play 36 games for the 2024-2025 season. The team is owned, in part, by Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow."The reveal was to happen at 6 PM and the suspense was mounting as we all lined up outside the Tahoe Blue Events Center.
The arena was buzzing. Everyone seemed eager for professional hockey to come to town.
We were even offered a delicious buffet.
We were joined by Mary Jo and Cyndi which made the evening even more magical.
The Name and Logo Reveal was accomplished by showing a very powerful, audience-pleasing video. Steve captured it all and it's worth watching (link).
“We are so incredibly excited to introduce our team’s name for our fans and for the region,” said Tim Tebow, “We look forward to bringing people together for fun family entertainment, as well as making a positive impact in this community.”
Drumroll... the new team is called the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The inspiration of the name and logo originated from local input and nominations from over 1,000 fans. The area has a long-standing folklore of a creature called Tahoe Tessie, a fictional being that resides in Lake Tahoe. It's nice they're paying homage to her! Fun.Photo opportunities were everywhere. I loved it all.
After all the announcements ended, the dancing began! Our musical delights came from local band, The Residents! Awesome.
Kevin Boryczki, General Manager of the Tahoe Blue Events Center said, “The atmosphere inside the arena is going to be electric for both the fans and players.” It already is, Kevin. It already is! I 💙 Lake Tahoe.

I'll state as i have elsewhere, the Logo is great, the name is not. I dont like the utilization of Knight within the name that forever ties the team to VGK. Or if Knights had to be in the name, then Blue or Emerald Knights. Tessie herself is a warrior in the cold deep blue, no need to call her a monster.
