Breaking in My Vintage Bowling Shirt
Our afternoon was spent in Carson City, NV at the newly renamed Home Grown Bowl. This is a place we will return to often. It is incredibly groovy and the new owner, Danny, is a gracious host.
I was here not only for the bowling and camaraderie, but also to try out my new, very vintage bowling shirt. Purchased at the Goodwill Outlet for what was, based on its weight, probably less than $1 (the prices are $3.29 a pound), it was the one highly sought after item I have searched thrift stores for over the decades. This stunning shirt was embroidered with Louise so that is the name I now bowl under.
Louise bowled in Price, UT and her team was sponsored by Mitchell Mortuary. The use of Casper the Friendly Ghost, as the logo, helps to date the shirt to the early to mid- 60s. Oh man, what a treasure.
A discovery of similar shirts for sale made me realize that I truly uncovered a valuable treasure with thrift store find. I just wish it helped me bowl better! The last time we bowled was June 9, 2019 and the two people between Steve and me, Linda and Bill, were there, too. It felt fantastic to be back on the lanes and in the company of friends.
Look at Steve's form. Is it any wonder that he bowled the best of all of us.
His highest game, of the three, was 216. We were thoroughly impressed.
"Bowling is for everyone.
For the perfect sense of humor,
you need a perfect sense of motion.
Bowling is more than pins.
It’s about playing along with your best friend
and having fun together."

Hey Louise ~ Awesome find! (and quite a hoot) . Now I see why you were so excited to hit the pins.
