Waterfalls, Old & New Friends...

Max, our 35 year old's 3rd grade teacher, is in South Lake Tahoe, briefly, with his childhood friend, Mark. Today, we had the opportunity to play tour guides and it was awesome.

With only one day to showcase Tahoe, we started at my Happy Place... Emerald Bay.

We shared our favorite tree.

And we did our best giving them a history lesson about Vikingsholm Castle.

We then hiked to Lower Eagle Falls. Eagle Falls is a set of waterfalls that eventually cascade down into the creek that runs into Emerald Bay.
We delighted in an infusion of waterfall-induced ions (which are very good for us). I could have stayed at the falls all day but we had lunch to eat and another waterfall to visit.
As we headed to Glen Alpine Falls, we had to park near Saint Francis Chapel due to a road closure. I love this little chapel in the woods.
The historical plaque reads, "In 1921, William Price and Walter Hansen laid the stone foundation of this Chapel. In 1922, Carpenter Volk framed the building. Rev. David Evans conducted the first service July 1, 1923."
While Eagle Falls is impressive, Glen Alpine Falls is exceptional. It was roaring today. WOW.

"There’s no better place to find yourself
than sitting by a waterfall and listening to its music."
-Roland R Kemler
With 65 feet of layered drops, the stair-step, snow-fed stream setting is perfect for pictures.

This visit was way too short but we all feel like we saw as much of Tahoe's beauty as possible in the limited time we had. Next time!
