Dangberg Home Ranch Neighbor Fair...

This day on the Ranch was one of history, music and gal time as Cyndi and I spent the day moseying about.

I have shared this special place many times but for those who don't know, Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg was only eighteen when he came to America in 1848. He came west in 1856, where he built a log cabin, cleared and irrigated his land claim, and married Margaret Ferris, the daughter of a noted American family.
What a spectacular setting in which to raise a family (and host a Fair).

Part of the fun of today was to learn more about this family that played an important role in the growth and shaping of Carson Valley, Nevada.
Informative volunteer, Clark, toured us through the outbuildings, explaining the artifacts found there. So very interesting!

After the history lessons, two musical acts entertained us. Krista Jenkins (and friend) is a singer, song writer and yodeler, as well as a fourth-generation Nevadan. She is very talented, too.
We absolutely loved the Mylo McCormick Project, led by the young singer-songwriter Mylo McCormick who has performed  funk and blues at venues around Lake Tahoe, the Comstock area and throughout Carson Valley. His Tom Petty rocked!
Lastly, we delighted in springtime in Gertrude's Garden.

History is merely a list of surprises.
It can only prepare us to be surprised yet again.
