Godfather II Fundraiser for WordWave

What happens when you combine a classic mafia film, the grandson of a famous mobster, and a bunch of interesting characters guests in a historic 1908 Boathouse located right on Lake Tahoe? A unforgettable evening of fun ensues!

The guest of honor was Meyer Lansky II, grandson of the infamous Meyer Lansky, an organized crime figure known for his sharp financial acumen, who was instrumental in the development of a national crime syndicate in the United States. The tie in with the Godfather II movie is the character, Hyman Roth who is Meyer Lansky in Mario Puzo's fictional tale. What was wonderful is that Meyer II shared sweet memories of his grandfather and the mob guy. Very, very cool stuff.
We loved Diane and Stephan's enthusiasm for the theme.
A party wouldn't be a party without the usual suspects: Margaret & Lee.
They served Coppola wine (naturally) and Italian appetizers (of course) and it all was meraviglioso!
We've seen movies in some pretty magical places however this vintage boathouse has to be on the top of the list.

This was our view until the doors had to close and the screen came down.
While everyone else chose chairs, we made ourselves at home and embraced the pillows provided by the exceptional hostess, Kelly.
Let's remember this amazing evening was the kickoff fundraiser for WordWave, a three-day literary festival held from Oct. 21-23, 2016 at the Tallac Historic Site. This event will feature oral storytelling, author readings, vendors, panels on craft, a Maker’s station and a novel writing camp for kids. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, agent sessions and even a hike. The entire schedule is online at www.TahoeWordWave.com. If this is any indication of the awesomeness of WordWave, it's going to be extraordinary!
