Hawaiians & Hamlet...

Today was one of those diverse days. We began by being local with the locals.

We headed to Lakeview Commons where Tahoe Outrigger (Kawai’ulu ‘O Tahoe) Canoe Club hosted a special canoe blessing ceremony. It was definitely a first for us and it put us in a Hawaii sort of mood.

Our evening found us on another side of the Lake, ushering at Valhalla for Hamlet, Russians and Monkeys.

This production was a series of five, one acts. I enjoyed them all with each offering a different kind of humor, performed by some seriously talented actors. Variations on the Death of Trotsky especially tickled me. Trotsky, played by Tom Callahan was exceptionally well acted and Mrs. Trotsky, by Diana Arington Evans had the best voice- ever. Hysterical.
Words, Words, Words was based on the infinite monkey theorem which states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. What a clever and well done piece.

Each act was very well done and we appreciated the opportunity to watch them. In addition to the magic happening within the theater, the show outside was magical, too. I always try to get a glimpse of the sunset during intermission. As usual, it was pretty spectacular. It was yet another great day in Tahoe.
