Tahoe Blues... a fabulous read!

Today I found myself mesmerized by talent.  Upon its release in June, I purchased the book Tahoe Blues:  short lit on life at the lake.  I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I only began to read it this afternoon because I was attending its reading.

The local, amazing, independent publishing house Bona Fide Books, "has collected sixty short works of flash fiction and true tales, polished like glacial granite to reveal the depths of the lake we love. Each piece is no more than five-hundred words—like the pea-sized gold nugget sifted out of the Upper Truckee, tiny but priceless. Short enough to be read on the lift or in line for a latte, Tahoe Blues offers instant clarity into the Lake of the Sky."

This page-turner covers a vast array of topics, all involving Lake Tahoe including:  •love lost and found • ghost stories • revenge • humor • harrowing feats • bears • apocalypse • history • beaches • work • hiking • snow • tree hugging • the slopes • casinos  •  myths and legends • epiphanies • families • dogs • longing • mountain culture • futuristic • life and death • connection • celebrities • landscape • memories.

Five of the stories were read to the group and each one, while very different, was exceptional.  I found myself laughing out loud at one, with goosebumps at another, and very impressed by all.

"Lake Tahoe.  Sixty Stories. Dive in."
