Jacobs Family Barn Sale...

The ad for an Antique Barn Sale caught my eye and the day was perfect for a drive to Gardnerville, a farm town established in the 1860s to serve the agricultural population of Nevada's Carson Valley. Located throughout this area are rambling old farms, still rich with cattle and produce.

The Jacobs Family purchased the Old Lampe Ranch Homestead, which consisted of five acres of the original 1860 ranch, a turn-of-the-century barn, brick creamery, blacksmith shop, smokehouse, bunkhouse, outhouse, and 1869 vintage farm home, all hidden by towering trees. And have turned it into a berry farm (1,000 plants and 16 varieties).

The beautiful old barn was the setting for this very interesting sale.  Dealers and artisans spilled out its doors with unique wares and museum quality furnishings.  I delighted in the variety of items for sale while Steve discovered the history of this 1860 barn, met its resident owl and saw just how a barn gets "raised" with the numbered posts.

Every town seems to have a hidden treasure and we certainly found one today.
