Vikingsholm Volunteers...

We are now "Accessibility Escorts" for Vikingsholm Castle (1929), wealthy Mrs. Knight's summer home that is now a California State Park and one of our favorite places to be.  There are only three ways to get to the shore of Emerald Bay:  1.  Boat in  2. Hike one mile down (and three miles back up, as our friend, Joan, describes the ascent) or 3. If you have a Disabled Person Placard you can be escorted down by following volunteers in your vehicle.  One day a week, those volunteers will be us!

Today we were trained and allowed to tour this Scandinavian masterpiece.  We look forward to helping tourists, learning local history and spending our summer in such a magnificent setting.

You guys are awesome! I love the vests! How long will you do this for? Is it only open in summer?
