An evening at the Opera...
CCM's Serata all'Opera was a wonderful showcase of the various talents. The orchestra played exquisitely as it accompanied the vocal skills of the opera singers. Italian, French, German and Czech pieces were performed. My favorite musical piece was Bedřich Smetana's Polka and according to NPR, "Czech composer Smetana loved to polka. Well, at least he liked writing them into his music." Both his opera and his instrumental finale were delightful works to conclude the truly musically magical night.
