Girls' Day at Granite Lake...
Our Sierra Summer is coming to an end. Karen planned an idyllic send off... a girls' hike to Granite Lake. It was just what I needed... Perfection!
Distance: 1.25 miles
Elevation Gain: 900 ft.
Route Type: Out-and-Back
Description: Granite Lake is a pristine alpine lake.
The hike to it offers fantastic views
of Lake Tahoe and the Desolation Wilderness.
We actually come to this particular lake for ichthyotherapy (fish pedicures). Fish pedicures are popular in Turkey, where they originated, and other Middle Eastern countries.
The procedure became popular because the fish are able to exfoliate and soften the feet in a non-painful way. The fish pedicure tickles but does not hurt. While Granite Lake does not offer a true, salon quality pedicure, having the fish here nibble your feet is an absolutely delightful way to relax after a hike. The giggles were endless.

It is only in still water that we can see.”

and to have my sense put in order.”
