Duck Races... What Fun!

Saturday, the South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club held its 18th annual Day in Paradise in Tahoe Paradise Park.

"Enjoy a day with a car show, food trucks, free kids games, live music, a beer garden, and a silent auction."

For $100 businesses were able to adopt and decorate a duck decoy. Oh my gosh, what creativity!

This VIKING took Best of Show. For those who don't know, South Tahoe High School's mascot is the Viking.
The owner was delighted with her blue ribbon though her duck did not win its race.

Normal Ducks were sold as numbered tickets which coincided with the numbers on each of the ducks. One sold for $5 or a six-quack for $20. They sold hundreds. I would say this was a very successful event for our first ever Duck Race. We'll be back!

From SeeCalifornia.Com, "There must be something special about the rubber duck. People go quackers for them. It's said that a maid at the Royal Palace even spotted the Queen with one that wears a crown! In California, there are over 20 duck derbies and duck races held annually."

life can be delightful.”
