Boat Camping in Emerald Bay: Evening

Bob, Jenny and I have tried to spend a night in Emerald Bay for years and we were continuous thwarted. Thursday evening, all the stars aligned, figuratively and literally and it finally happened.

We went sans Steve because it just wasn't his thing. That said, we took so much stuff, I don't think there would have been room for him.

A few boats came and went but for the most part it was us and six others, dispersed along the shores of Vikingsholm Castle. Wow.

I never thought of this flower's name Evening Primrose until I saw it bloom, after the sun went down. Beautiful.

We chose this night for a reason, "The annual Perseid Meteor Shower is visible between July and August, with the shower's peak on August 11. Viewers can expect to see up to 100 meteors per hour, although this year's corresponding full moon may damper viewing a bit." Between the three of us, we saw maybe eight meteors (falling stars). While not the anticipated amount, no one went to sleep disappointed.

The full moon rising made the night complete.

There was a peacefulness that is hard to describe. This was the first time, in my entire 60 years, where I slept out under the stars. What wonderment. It was all worth the wait!
