Flashback Friday: 1st Family Photo Shoot

First off, Happy New Year! Here's to more fun in 2021. January 1st has been extra special for Steve and me as it is the day we celebrate becoming a family. Our oldest was born this day, 34 years ago. Since I'm reminiscing by perusing old photo albums, I had to share our first attempt at professional photos. Not advisable with a newborn. But oh man, great memories for this mom whose baby is elsewhere today.

Who remembers Olan Mills Portrait Studios? We visited them numerous times while our family was growing.
These studios were affordable and convenient. Olan Mills, Inc. was a  privately owned American company founded in 1932 by photographer Olan Mills Sr. and Mary Mills. Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, it provided portrait photography and, interestingly, church directories. Sadly, it is another company which exists only in memories and old photo albums.

“To photograph:
it is to put on the same line of sight
the head, the eye and the heart.”
-Henri Cartier-Bresson

May your New Year be full of opportunities to take silly photos and give you much to reminisce about in the years to come.

And I still look exactly the same! Just fewer onesies.
