Crater Lake: Day #2...

Early morning in the Park afforded us peace, quiet and the perfect breakfast spot... The Pinnacles.

It also afforded us a cheesy photo opportunity where it looks like our coffee is sitting atop a geological formation...it's not by the way.
As we continued our trek around the east rim, our first overlook as to see the Phantom Ship, a craggy little islet near the border of the lake under Dutton Cliff.
"Its rugged hull, with rocks towering like the masts of a ship, suggests the name, and, phantom like, it disappears when viewed in certain lights from the western rim. Standing in line with an arête that descends from an angle of the cliff, it possibly marks a continuation of the sharp spur beneath the waters, or perhaps, but much less likely, it is a block slid down from the cliff. Whatever its history, it attracts everyone by its beauty and winsomeness."

Our last pause in this spectacular national park was at Cloudcap Scenic overlook, located at the end of highest paved road in Oregon.

Treasures are found everywhere!

“I expected something remarkable,
but was not prepared for a scene of such wonder and beauty….
It seemed a blue gulf…No where else had I ever seen such a shade of blue….
How exquisite, rare, unreal!”
