Butte Lake's Flora, Fauna & Fun...

For our second explore of Lassen Volcanic National Park (in less than a month), we began at a spot entirely new for the both of us: Butte Lake (6100 ft).

This remote landscape is dominated by the jagged Fantastic Lava Beds and barren Cinder Cone volcano. The hike to its summit is both challenging and unforgettable (Steve will be accomplishing that feat tomorrow). The campground and day use area provide a great base for hiking, backpacking, swimming, and boating.

What a gorgeous home base. With its black sand beach it almost felt like Hawaii.
Beautiful nature abounds at Butte Lake.

It is a truly great day when it ends at the Lake.

We 💙 Butte Lake.
And this is our home for the next two nights, nestled in the pines. More exploration is on our itinerary for tomorrow.

That looks like an amazing campsite!
A1 would love that lake too!
I do look forward to returning to Lassen, whenever that is. We will be close on our way home but the 101 is calling our name.
Enjoy!!
