One of my favorite blogs is called Forgotten Bookmarks, written by Michael Popek. Michael is a used and rare bookseller and what he finds within the books he buys are "personal, funny, heartbreaking and weird". Every now and then I discover my own forgotten bookmark. It's like a little gift within the book.
I recently purchased this cool, used book The Birds of Yosemite. Within its pages I found a wonderfully illustrated menu from the Wawona Hotel dated Sept. 10, 1988 (the same year the book was published). It offered an amazing selection for $5.25 for adults and $3.00 for children: scrambled eggs, french toast, hash brown potatoes, sausage, assorted juices, bran muffins, fresh melon, strawberry shortcake, creamy bananas (is there any other kind), and assorted cold cereals. What a deal! And what a find.

Maybe mushy bananas--but who would serve that!
